When I was very young I saw on television that the first Rainbow
Warrior was blown up by the French secret service. It was
the same time you saw Jacques Cousteau sailing around the
world doing all kinds of research on the oceans. These people
were out there doing something to make the world better. I
wanted that too, so I started volunteering on the Greenpeace
ships. My first action was on a river in New Zealand where
I was born.
I think it's very inspiring to see what's
possible with the passion of people, in their social and natural
environment. When people see the Rainbow Warrior they feel
uplifted. Our presence strengthens them, changes their lives.
We must protect the beauty of the world against all those
individuals and companies who fuck it up just for greed.
