In 1996 I started out as an activist,
after that I did many different things. The last five years
I have been sailing on the Greenpeace ships working as a cook.
The more I travel around the world and see
the mad things man is doing to this planet, the more convinced
I get that we all have to join forces to clean up our planet.
My job on board is to make sure we all get healthy and happy
"hippie" food and it is a great job. I get to work with lovely
people from all over the world. I get to make my voice heard
and work for a cleaner, fairer and prettier world. I see myself
as a very lucky woman and I count my blessings.
Being here in India is a very strong experience.
In this beautiful diverse country with so much fascinating
culture and friendly people, I was watching the shipbreaking
yard from the ship. I saw all the smoke coming from burning
piles of god knows what. Ships ground to the shore. This is
an ugly business. I hope we can help make a difference here,
to make sure the people here can work in a safe environment
and keep their land healthy for generations to come. That
is why I'm here.
