My first contact with Greenpeace was during the Rainbow Warrior's
"Toxics Free Asia Tour" in 1999 when I met some of the crew.
At that time I was a diving instructor in the Lakshadweep
islands. We had just finished a reef research program to investigate
coral death due to the global warming period. In March 2002
I started as a volunteer with the Justice for Bhopal project.
Since I've seen the life under water and
have experienced from close quarters how fragile this ecosystem
is, I think we should work real hard to preserve our nature
on all fronts for as long as possible. What I really like
about working for Greenpeace is that you can tell a "bad guy",
a polluter, what wrongs they are doing and how this is affecting
the environment and people and make them change their ways
of functioning. After all the resistance he will have to give
in. He can't say anything as our studies and reports are backed
by scientific evidence.
The saying goes - "First they IGNORE you,
then they LAUGH at you, then they FIGHT you, then you WIN",
Mahatma Gandhi.
This gives me greatest pleasure working for
Greenpeace.
